The Coq Clocher – Weather Vane
For hundreds of years the coq clocher or weather vane has perched proudly atop the church towers of New France. His stylized form was well known as he symbolized the clergy calling the flock to assemble. Although the 20th century forms are usually of copper to act as a lightning conductor, this pine carving is true to the old form, composition, construction and surface. A wonderful carving.
